Pitch, Power, Trim “Pitch, power, trim” is a mantra for keeping your aircraft under control. When you adjust the pitch or power, verify the aircraft is in trim.

Engaging the trim cut-out de-activates MCAS and, for this critical period, the crew would not have been battling directly against MCAS to control the aircraft’s pitch.

Further, when MCAS operates, it will move the pitch trim wheel. Neither report discusses any unwanted trim motion. Ergo, this does not represent an actual MCAS malfunction.
