Peter Funt began co-hosting episodes of the show with his father in 1987 and eventually became host and producer after Allen Funt’s retirement in 1993.

Funt has produced and hosted more than 200 episodes of Candid Camera since taking over the franchise from his famous father, Allen. Peter is also an award-winning journalist and author.

Peter Funt pointed out that like any family business, it’s common for families to pass on the responsibility to other generations and even more common for people to compare the two.
