John Carl Buechler, whose Hollywood horror makeup and special effects made movies like 'Hatchet,' 'Deep Freeze' and the Michael Moriarty-starrer 'Troll' into classic frightfests, has died.

Assistant District Attorney Sara Van Strydonck said that Mark Buechler, who pleaded not guilty Thursday to his alleged crimes, is the focus of "an extremely active investigation" by law enforcement.
