New York state officials have told the Trump administration that they will not comply with its demands to end diversity, equity and inclusion practices in public schools, despite the administration’s threats to terminate federal education funding.

The New York State Education Department has announced that it will fight back against threats from the Trump administration to restrict DEI measures in order to gain access to federal funding.

New York’s stance differed from the muted and deferential responses from other major institutions to the administration’s threats.
