The Veilguard failing to meet EA goals with only half of the players it wanted, EA CEO Andrew Wilson is reflecting on why that happened.

Last week, publisher Electronic Arts mentioned that BioWare's latest game, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, missed sales projections by a whopping 50%. Was the game's lackluster performance due to a bad story? Outdated gameplay mechanics? Apparently, it was because it wasn't a live service game.

Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson recently spoke on an earnings call about the underperformance of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which reportedly reached 1.5 million players. This was apparently around half of what EA was projecting,

The Veilguard developer BioWare has released a new patch for the game and in the same breath suggested it’s basically done with it less than three months after launch.

Every writer credited as being a part of the main writing team on Dragon Age: The Veilguard no longer appears to be working at BioWare, with a number of departures at various points in the past having been added to by the studio's latest restructuring.

According to IGN, "a number" of BioWare developers have been placed by EA into other equivalent roles within the company. Howeer, a smaller number of Dragon Age staff members are also seeing their positions shelved, and are being offered time to apply to other roles within the company (if they so wish).
