The Naples Pier drew more than 1 million visitors a year before Ian destroyed it. Now, it's only partially open, with fishing not allowed.

The new Naples Pier might not be under construction until spring of next year. It's still under review by federal agencies; now city council wants changes.

The city has some big issues and big projects to tackle, including the rebuild of the Naples Pier, destroyed by Hurricane Ian in 2022. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has yet to award permits.
