Leslie Van Houten, a former Charles Manson follower and convicted murderer, was released from a California prison on Tuesday, a prison spokesperson told CNN.

In 1971, Leslie Van Houten was convicted, along with other members of the Manson “family,” of the brutal 1969 killings of Los Angeles grocer Leno LaBianca and his wife Rosemary.
