A stretch of Loveland Pass in the Colorado high country remains closed after a landslide, but the Colorado Department of Transportation says the first stage of the cleanup effort is nearly complete.The 100 foot wide landslide happened early Sunday evening and covered Highway 6 with a wall of mud and debris that is 15 to 20 feet high.

“U.S. 6/Loveland Pass is CLOSED,” the department wrote on social media at 5:25 a.m. “The pass closed due to a mountain slide that is currently approximately 100 [feet] wide and 15-20 [feet] deep and still active. Arapahoe Basin Ski Area access remains open. No anticipated opening at this time.”

Work continued today to clean up a landslide that closed Loveland Pass on Sunday. This pass is about 2 hours northwest of Colorado Springs.
