Authorities have closed access to one of the Great Ocean Road's most popular tourist attractions, the beach steps at Loch Ard Gorge, amid fears of a cliff collapse.

The 42-year-old was understood to be in the water at Loch Ard when he disappeared. Emergency services were scrambled to the scene near Stirling at around 9pm.
