In the Google Maps mobile app or desktop version, tap on the X button in the search box that appears as soon as you drop a pin. Or tap/click anywhere on the screen, and the location will be unpinned.

To remove a drop pin from Google Maps, you can use the information box. As there are two boxes available with almost the same information, you can use either of them to get the job done.

Open Google Maps, and find the location on the map where you want to drop the pin. Zoom in as much as possible, so that you can see the location clearly.

Thankfully, Google is working on an incredibly handy Google Maps feature we have always needed. The app will always show you where the pin is, indicating the direction you must scroll to find it.
