A pop-up truck dedicated to Hello Kitty made an appearance Saturday at the Arden Fair mall in Sacramento, as the Japanese-created character celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Hello Kitty has been such a hit that other firms are trying to replicate her success. Chinese companies are investing in new cartoons; Sanrio, too, frequently puts out more characters.
