The move to slightly change the VRAM configuration of one of the best graphics card options you can buy right now is a seemingly strange one but has apparently been forced by a shortage of GDDR6X RAM.
Micron has made a pair of announcements around next-generation memory technologies, HBMnext and GDDR6X. The latter will debut with the upcoming RTX 3090, which will offer 12GB of onboard RAM.
Both models also come with 24GB of GDDR6X RAM (384-bit), a triple fan configuration, PCI Express 4.0 support, DisplayPort 1.4a and HDMI 2.1 support, and PNY’s Epic-X RGB lighting system details.
