Tesla releases Full Self-Driving beta v12.1.2, now relying on neural networks for navigating traffic, as the automaker continues to update its top driver assistance suite.

Update: after this story was posted early Sunday morning, some Cybertruck owners said on a forum Sunday afternoon that they were getting FSD v12.5.5.

The update enabling Assertive mode was released on Oct. 20, 2021, and NHTSA and Tesla met to "discuss the functionality" on Jan. 10 and 19, 2022.

In layman's terms, Tesla is having some issues improving their FSD system as quickly as they would like and opted instead to release a half-baked update so as not to miss another deadline.

Now, Tesla closed the gap and bundled the Holiday Update features with FSD V13.2.2 as the 2024.45.25.5 software update.

But Tesla’s FSD Beta program, which has been going for about 3 years, has always been a two-step forward and one-step back kind of program. It’s unclear why the update has been delayed.
