One of two celebratory holidays in the Islamic faith, Eid al-Fitr is when Muslims come together in prayer and celebrate completing Ramadan. The "Festival of Breaking the Fast" is celebrated worldwide during the first three days of Shawwāl, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar.

Over the years, Coventry has celebrated Eid festivities with community groups organising Eid events, arts and crafts, and mendhi stalls in community centres, local schools hosting an Eid day for pupils, Eid celebrations in parks with funfair rides to segregated Eid prayers during the Covid pandemic.
