By Rob Picheta, CNN (CNN) — The German city of Cologne is moving 20,500 people in its largest evacuation since World War II, after officials discovered three massive, unexploded bombs.
Authorities in Cologne said this was the largest evacuation of the city since World War II. Unexploded ordnance has commonly been found across Europe.
Cologne was the first German city to experience a '1,000 bomber raid' by the Royal Air Force during World War Two. Some 1,400 tons of bombs were dropped in a single night on 30 May, 1942.
