A popular electric vehicle made by the Chinese consumer electronics giant Xiaomi crashed into a concrete guardrail while deploying its autonomous driving feature. Three people died.

The CEO of the company behind a driverless car model in China has spoken out after three people died in a crash involving their car. Three girls lost their lives on March 29 after an SU7 electric car made by Xiaomi Automobile Corp crashed while operating on the Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) intelligent-assisted driving mode.

Chinese EV maker Xiaomi said it would cooperate with a police investigation into a fatal crash involving one of its cars which had been in autonomous mode just before the accident. Xiaomi founder Lei Jun said in a social media post late Tuesday that he was "heavy-hearted" and that his company would "continue to cooperate with the police investigation".
