The Atlanta zoo is mourning the loss of a Sumatran orangutan named Biji whose medical condition helped her species throughout the U.S.

Biji Biji, a Malaysian brand which creates clothing and accessories almost entirely from upcycled waste, wants to change the fashion industry by getting designers to think more consciously.

Zoo Atlanta has announced the death of an original founding member of its great ape population. 52-year-old Biji the Sumatran orangutan was euthanized on Aug. 1.
