(KOIN) — A Portland tradition that’s been around for more than half a century is about to return. On Tuesday, Dec. 3, the 53rd annual Benson Hotel Gingerbread Masterpiece will be unveiled.

For the past 30 years, master pastry chef David Diffendorfer has conceptualized and created intricate gingerbread masterpieces for the Benson Hotel in downtown Portland each holiday season.

The Benson Hotel unveiled its 2024 Gingerbread masterpiece on Tuesday. The piece is made out of more than 150 lbs. of gingerbread, 50lbs. of Marzipan, 20 lbs., of Chocolate, and 10 lbs.
