A 71-year-old Texas woman has died from a rare infection caused by a brain-eating amoeba. The woman was using tap water from an RV campground to clear out her sinuses last year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported. The agency did not identify the woman or the location of the campground.

The report says she developed severe neurologic symptoms, including fever, headache, and altered mental status. She died eight days after her symptoms began.
