It’s the last day to book a flight on Southwest Airlines without being hit with a fee to check bags after the airline abandoned a decades-long luggage policy.

Though Southwest kindly waited until Memorial Day Weekend had come and gone, the Dallas-based company officially ended its 50-year-plus policy of “two bags fly free” today. In fact, no bags fly free. The first bag will cost $35. A second is $45. Assigned seats will begin rolling out in 2026.
