Overnight, the first round of freezing rain in Northeast Ohio in two years glazed cars, roads, trees, power lines and more with one- to two-tenths of an inch of ice, creating a chaotic commute.

Highs will reach the upper 20s on Wednesday with cloudy skies throughout the day and a slight chance for snow showers in the afternoon. The National Weather Service’s forecast calls for snow showers mixing with freezing rain late Wednesday evening through early Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of northern Ohio starting Wednesday night through Thursday morning. Freezing rain is expected across the region with some accumulation of ice expected overnight until temperatures rise above freezing on Thursday morning.

Freezing rain could lead to a 10th of an inch of ice accumulating overnight, creating very hazardous travel conditions across much of northern Ohio. Concerns about the ice have led the National Weather Service to issue a winter weather advisory for the region,
