Donald Trump said on Friday that any collective bargaining agreements reached with federal workers within 30 days of his inauguration will not be approved, the latest salvo in the U.S. president's bid to remake the federal workforce.

President Donald Trump recently announced he was cancelling the collective bargaining agreements (CBA) with federal employees that former President Joe Biden's administration signed off on before he left office.

The National Treasury Employees Union argues a move to “radically reshape the civil service” by making it easier to fire federal workers violates the will of Congress.

Trump directed agencies to disapprove collective bargaining agreements reached 30 days prior to a presidential changeover. After the election, several federal unions raced to wrap up contracts with the Biden administration to protect telework and remote work for their members as well as extend them past Trump’s second term.

Although the president railed against collective bargaining agreements signed at the Social Security Administration and the Education Department shortly before his inauguration, it’s unlikely any of those deals will be upended by the measure.
