Hi Guy, I think we have the same level of interest in the Theatre so I would recommend the Museum and headphone tour for 10 Euro's. We were next to one of the guided tours and the guide can clearly provide unique insights that you won't get from the headphones however we are not big opera fans so we were quite content with the headphone tour. It is an amazing Theatre and I'm sure you'll enjoy just walking through as there is plenty to see. You'll also learn some history and not just the history of opera. Have a great time!

We booked our tour online through a third party. It concentrated on the museum itself. My daughter, who was with us, booked a tour at La Scala that day and had a better experience and was able to get inside the opera house itself and even sat in the presidential box. I would recommend booking at La Scala.

Sorry. I don't know. A friend of ours, who lives in Milano bought our tickets, but it was high season and he got them months in advance. May is probably an easier month to secure seat. Your concierge at a good hotel could probably assist you. If I were you, I'd still try to get them before you get to Milan. Enjoy! This is my second answer...hope this one posts.
