The Vancouver Art Gallery was so disappointing to me. For the major art gallery of one of Canada's three world cities, it was underwhelming. We went mainly to see the Emily Carr exhibit. Carr is Br…Full review by Spruce_grouse

As the main gallery of a major city, not impressed at all. NO European arts at all or other Asian arts on permanent display. And also very expensive ticketsFull review by Michael C

Why is so little of the gallery open to the public? For $24, I expected more than half a floor of cartoons and a few Emily Carr sketches and paintings. According to reviews I have been reading, the second floor has been closed for a long time, as it was today. If you have less than half your building open, at least reduce your admission. Worst gallery visit ever.

There are special exhibits that merit that price. I'd you go on line you can purchase tickets (Groupon) for $19. Also note there are "by donation" admission. Schedule your date to visit so you can maximize your gallery tour. I have always enjoyed my visits to the Gallery. And I have visited so many internationally..."world-class" ones as well. VAG needs improvement in curating, but that requires money...hope that answers your question.
Yes, it is on the second floor (access is via a separate staircase on the western side of the gallery) and the food is varied, quite good and in a most pleasant setting. Enjoy yourselves.
