We are looking to stay near Spotts Beach with a 5 year old and 1 year old. Is this beach too wavy for little children? I see many reviewers mention strong current. We are planning to visit for Christmas. How is the current in December? Is it safe for children if we stay in the shallow area? We are definitely not planning to venture out to the reefs.

The part where we were (right by the parking lot) was choppy. It might be too rough for a 1 year old by themselves. For a 5 year old, it depends on how comfortable they are in the water/ you being comfortable with them playing/ swimming near it. It’s not a beach where parents can sit down and relax and have the little younger kids paddle in the water. They may get knocked down. A lot.
