The local bus service (Meiko Bus) has several regular lines that connect the rail station with several stops along the beach. When we visited in May, they were also running a free hotel shuttle bus that ran a circuit from the station to various hotels, including some near the beach. Overall, it's about 6 km from the rail station to the beach. There are plenty of taxis at the station. I think the rate is about 8000 yen for 2 hours, if you want to hire them for sightseeing.

Did not see any surfing. Waves weren’t that big June 2019. I did see 2 scuba diving outfits
