Senior membership benefits are from age 65 + plus. You can buy it online but try to see if your AAA membership can save you some money for the admission. They have 20% discount. See what is less expensive. It is wonderful place to visit during any season. Bank of America have great discounts too for local museums. Always ask for their best options. Have a wonderful trip there.

Yes! There is a separate picnic area just for this purpose. If you don't want to bring your own food, Filoli has a small cafe with grab-and-go food items and drinks.

It depends on where you choose to have your summer tea. If you are using the cafe for your group, the patio area is nice--you can be as dressy or informal as you like. Purchase your tea and desserts or lunch at the cafe. There are picnic tables near the parking lot if you are bringing your own setup and lunch--but that's much less formal than the cafe. I mean, you're right there at the parking lot! But at least it's better than it used to be, I.e., no picnicking allowed. If it's some sort of scheduled Filoli summer tea event, it's best to call them and ask where it will be held and how much walking it might involve.
