A really interesting place with plenty of heritage and ideal for walks. Pity that the canal boat cafe seems to have gone, we didn’t want to take the children to the pub.Full review by Ashbourne_Ram

yes we have a labrador and never have a problem, sometimes ducks in the canal basin just be careful it does not jump in as they cant get out, nice walk alomg the old tram lines as bugsworth which will take you as far shady lane near yhe wash, a nice circular walk is to park in the wash church car park turn right out of the car park the just under the railway bridge turn left down the lane and continue will bring you out at the old crown pub by the railway bridge then walk back along the main road back to the car, about 11/2-2 hours, another walk is to park by the railway bridge in the centre of chinley and walk up maynestone road up to the top at peepaday veiws are awesome but is a slight uphill all the way but gentle coming back, is a single lane road so is good for dog, if you are serious walkers at the same railway bridge turn left up stubbins lane walk to top then turn right and that will take you up the ridge and you can walk in theory walk to hayfield, I used to live in chinley but this was 20 years ago but still do some of the walks when we go now, hopw this helps.
