The Azalea Garden is beautiful. I usually go early in the morning to get pictures of the garden when everything is still glistening. It's so peaceful and serene to walk through.Full review by juliawillow

On Sunday, April 9, 2000, Stephen F. Austin State University and the SFA Mast Arboretum officially dedicated the Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden at a reception for the garden’s major benefactor, Mrs. Dorothy Mize Wisely and members of her family. The Garden is named the Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden to honor Mrs. Wisely’s mother. Her start-up gift and now an endowment guarantee a showcase for years to come. Named after her mother Ruby M. Mize, an avid gardener and lover of beauty. For Dottie – for her two daughters, Susan and Debbie, their husbands, Mike and David, respectively, for W.T. May, Ruby Mize’s brother and for the rest of the family, it is a living legacy to Ruby Mize.

Call me a NAC and garden lover. Regardless of blooms or no blooms the garden is extremely peaceful and always beautiful. There are times where all one can see is green and other times you may see many blooms. The plants are seasonal but you may see a few "stragglers" hanging on in late May. Once again, a very nice piece of nature to visit.
Q:
Is there a fee to the Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden?
A:
It's free
