I just did this activity and can say while they do not take pictures during the excursion for you, they will take pics for you with your phone in front of the falls. I brought a waterproof phone case to take photos myself and others in my group had GoPros attached to their helmets.
Hello! Are we able to drive ourselves to the rappelling location if we have a rental car? Thank you!

It is possible however very tricky. Also there is a locked gate at the end. They might let you follow them just call and ask. Long trip, road winds left and right.
I see from prior Q&A that you can work around an NCL cruise. My concern is two fold - a) the rain scheduled for saturday when we'd want to rappel on Monday and b) I wear glasses and can't see without them. Is it silly to try to rappel a waterfall ? I'm wondering if I'll be able to see with the water on my glasses and don't know if anyone there has run into this issue before. I appreciate your honest feedback on this.

Aloha! Thanks for your question. We are able to accommodate guests on board the Pride of America; if you book through the ship, we can pick you up at the harbor. Otherwise, we can meet you across the street at Maui Mall. Regarding weather, we operate rain or shine. If heavy rains threaten flooding or cause high/swift water, we use rappel stations that are a safe distance from the water course. If you're unable to see without your glasses, wear them with a snug safety strap to secure them and prevent damage. Your face may get splashed during wet rappels, or if it's raining; wearing a cap with a bill under your helmet may minimize some of the splashing from rain or stream water. If you can see well enough to forgo your glasses during rappels, you can put them in the backpack we provide before making your descents, and wear them in between. If you would like to discuss this or any other question further, phone and chat lines are open daily. Mahalo and safe travels.
