I don't understand how this doesn't have a TripAdvisor "Best of the Best" designation. I'm not usually a big tour person when traveling, but the Sunset Prairie tour was the best $50 I've spent in age…Full review by Kerry W

I'm not exactly sure what the question is but maybe you're asking if it's a good idea to bring children here and what there is to do. We offer guided boat tours and can take any child of any age. The boats are very safe and stable. Our naturalists present a fun and educational tour appropriate for all ages. The refuge's Visitor Center* has a film and hands on exhibits. They also have a Jr. Ranger program where kids can get a booklet, fill it out while here on the refuge and then receive a Jr. Ranger badge. There's a 7.5 mile long driving trail accessing walking trails, an historic swamp homestead* and a 3/4 mile long boardwalk leading to a 50' observation tower. We have an onsite cafe for lunch and snacks. So, there is a lot to do for kids of all ages as well as adults. Come see us! *The Visitor Center is closed on Sundays and Mondays Dec-Feb and June-August. All other months, they're open 9am-4pm. Access to the interior of The Chesser Homestead may not be available every day but walking around the grounds to see some of the old tool sheds, equipment and cane syrup boiler is.

$20 and so-many-cents. The boat trip lasts around 2 hours and I strongly recommend going on the very first tour (9:45am) so you get the indigenous guide, who is 7th generation to the Okefenokee area. He's great, gives you hands-on experiences, and has a neat sense of humor

It's definitely not too late in the year and it's not too cool, especially in the late morning and mid-afternoon. With our water levels lower than normal, we're actually seeing lots and lots of alligators and birds so it's really a great time to come see us. Thanks for your interest and if you have further questions, please write again or give me a call at 912-496-7156. Thanks, Joy Campbell - Okefenokee Adventures.
