I can't believe there aren't more reviews on this place. It is our favorite place to take the boat in NM. The lake is huge and never busy like Elephant Butte. We prefer to camp at the Cottonwood camp…Full review by FamilyTravelersx4

Can anyone tell me if there are camp sites next to the water and if so which ones? Thanks!
A:
Yes on the New Mexico side there are campsites near the water within the state park or if you have a boat or drive out of the state park you can beach camp as well.

If the campsite is 15 miles always from the lake can I drive there do do we have to walk?
A:
you can drive directly to the marina to get to the lake.

Some parts are but major camping sites are open all year long

Can you swim in the lake?
A:
There is a beach near the marina mostly gravel and it fills up on weekends most of the campsites are on a cliff over looking the lake you can hike down to the water or drive to the marina

Depends on Carrier and it's spotty
