The county is located on the north in Hunan, the north-central part of Changde's administration. It has an area of 1,203.43 kilometres with a registered population of 505,609 and a permanent population of 400,839. It is divided into eight towns and two townships under its jurisdiction, and the county seat is Anfu Subdistrict.
