Hi, we stayed near iguana beach which is about half way from Agia marina to chania. There is a local bus which runs passed these coves. There are 3 little coves here. Very lovely beaches, clear and calm water. (We stayed in June). We stayed on these beaches while we were there and loved them. There is plenty of parking if you are driving and restaurants near by along with a beach bar. Have a lovely time.

Agia Marina is on the island of crete and rather a distance from Athens. I would suggest a flight to Chania or Heraklion..try Ryanair. You can also get a ferry..suggest you google …

When you get to Crete car hire is cheap but roads in the west are poor and slow...but well worth the effort
