There are no tourist cars allowed in Zermatt, there are only electric cars for the businesses in the village. You'll take a train into downtown Zermatt. You'll need to take ski lifts to the 5 Lakes trail head. Within walking distance of the Zermatt train station is a ski lift/tram that takes you to a chair stop called Sunnegga, and there you can transfer to the Blauherd ski lift chair to go higher up the mountain. You can walk the trail from Sunnegga OR Blauherd, as the trail is a circle but it will be easier from the top of the Blauherd chair (making it more downhill, I understand). HOWEVER, the resort does a lot of maintenance in the summer and the Blauherd Chair was not operating when I was there last August (and there were no warning signs at the bottom). That adds another 2(?) hours to the hike to complete the whole route when you could otherwise take the Blauherd chair lift back to Sunnegga if you started the trail at Sunnegga. Be sure and ask if the Blauherd chair is operating and plan accordingly.
